On Monday 15
February 2010 Stanley Vann D.Mus. (Cantuar.), B.Mus., Hon.
FTCL, FRCO, ARCM, Organist and Master of Music at our
Diocesan Cathedral from 1953 to 1977 will celebrate his
one-hundredth birthday. On the eve of this occasion – Sunday
14 February 2010 – at 6:00pm, the Boys and Men of All Saints
will sing Choral Evensong to his music. The Magnificat and
Nunc Dimittis will be sung to the Peterborough Service (in A)
and the service will include his anthem “Soul of Christ,
sanctify me!”, his second set of Responses, the organ
voluntaries “Jubilatio” and “Gaio”, and the appointed Psalm
will be sung to one of his splendid chants. The Preacher will
be The Reverend Canon Paul Rose, Precentor at
Peterborough during the “Vann years”. Vann’s
music will also be featured in a BBC Radio 3 broadcast from
Peterborough Cathedral at 4:00pm on Wednesday 24 February
2010.
